Sr IT Infrastructure Architect (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Architect for our client in Jacksonville, Florida. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description:

  • The IT Infrastructure Architect designs and implements complex computer systems and offers infrastructure services; addresses any issues related to information and communications technology security and performance; takes charge of the software and hardware installations, specification, testing and service transition; identifies the potential technology innovations and engages with the business; and leads the execution of incident, change, release, problem, performance and availability management.

  • Provides Technical leadership on Projects (50%)
    • Serves as the technical lead for infrastructure projects providing technical expertise and guidance for the project's successful completion. Designs and implements complex computer systems and offers infrastructure services. Addresses any issues related to information and communications technology security and performance. Leads software and hardware installations, specification, testing and service transition. Identifies potential technology innovations and engages with the business.
  • Evaluates, Analyzes and Makes Recommendations on Technical Infrastructure (50%)
    • Guides in the execution of incident, change, release, problem, performance and availability management. Evaluates system requirements to ensure that these systems provide the necessary security, meets the needs of the organization, including overall system performance, identifies business requirements and incorporates new hardware, operating systems or connectivity solutions. Ensures alternative solutions and improvements meet the system's needs by introducing alternative technologies to improve or enhance client information systems to support organizational goals. This includes documenting the requirements and communicating them to senior management. Designs and reviews process of new systems including developing and documenting proposed changes that need to be implemented or integrated across the working platforms of the IT department. Formulates detailed plans to add new systems to the existing core infrastructure, including logistics plans for conducting physical integration of hardware, while providing technical direction and support throughout this process. Evaluates new systems that have been integrated into the client infrastructure while keeping track of the success of the project, identifies best practices for future implementations, provides feedback to the enterprise and incorporates all gathered information into future integration plans.
  • Performs other duties as the supervisor may, from time to time, deem necessary.

 Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field 
  • 4+ years' related work experience, including progressive work experience in infrastructure services, data centers, end user computing, servers and networks as an Architect working on progressively more complex IT projects
  • Experience in creating architectural designs for gradually complex designs
  • Adept at consulting, negotiating, communicating, consensus building, presentation and facilitation
  • Demonstrated ability to learn from mistakes and apply constructive feedback to improve performance
  • Experience in a variety of hardware platforms including mainframes, distributed platforms, end user computing, and mobile devices
  • Experience and understanding of a variety of operating systems
  • Adept at innovating and thinking beyond established standards and processes
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience applying current and emerging technology solutions and trends including security and regulatory industry requirements
  • Demonstrated effective decision-making skills related to implementing architecture and design
  • Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies
  • Demonstrated leadership skills through project or technical leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to understand overall IT strategy and apply/implement IT strategy in assigned projects/initiatives
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and articulately for all levels and audiences
