WebSphere Engineer (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a WebSphere Engineer to work with one of our Fortune 500 clients.

Job Responsibilities:
 

  • Creating organizational structures by creating and assigning roles to participants.
  • Publishing and deploying projects, including republishing updated versions of projects.
  • Running business processes in production.
  • Creating External Resources and configuring Process Monitoring and Process Archiving.
  • Configuring backup engines for failover on a Standalone deployment.
  • Use Bladelogic tasks to automate deployment and management.
  • Create Process Execution Engines.
  • Tune and troubleshoot ALBPM Enterprise a plus
  • Configure ALBPM Enterprise on J2EE clusters.
  • Installation of Websphere 6, 7, or 8 servers on Development, QA and Production environments.
  • Creating clustered environments and configuring the applications in the clustered environments.
  • Upgrading from Webphere 6, 7, or 8
  • Creating/Configuring Websphere connection pools to Oracle and AS400.
  • Creating Data Sources/Transaction Data Sources for applications.
  • Creating monitoring scripts to monitor connection pools, idle thread status, server state, and cluster participation.
  • Configuring Wily Introscope Agent on Websphere servers.
  • Installing Apache WebServers on Development, QA and Production Servers.
  • Configuring LDAP using Netscape directory server for user authentication.
  • On-call support for 24x7 applications.
  • Evaluate, install, test, configure, maintain, monitor performance of and troubleshoot Websphere applications.
  • Understanding of concepts related to web server load balancing and other application scaling concepts.
  • Working with UNIX systems administration experience. (Solaris, Linux, AIX)
  • Troubleshooting Unix, Networking, DMZ, Firewalls, J2EE, Web and application servers issues.
  • Creation and support of automation scripts, e.g. log rotation and plug-in migration, configuration automation.
  • Understand and analyze Java/J2EE applications and its components (JDBC, JMS/MQ, JSP, EJB, JNDI, etc.)
  • Understand security concepts and apply them to applications in the Websphere environment.
  • Creating new processes and improving existing processes which require effective systems administration.
  • Work as a proficient resource with UNIX variant operating systems (AIX, Solaris, Linux) and creating UNIX scripts for day-to-day tasks.
  • Applying patches to Websphere servers in all environments including production.

 
Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years of hands on professional experience with the installation, configuration and maintenance of Websphere 6, 7,or 8 or later
  • In addition to Websphere, must have working knowledge of at least one of the following - Tomcat, Apache, JBOSS, WebSphere
  • Prior experience upgrading Websphere 6, 7, or 8 is required
  • Ability to analyze an Architect’s design, provide alternative middleware options if appropriate and work with System Administrators throughout the build process
  • Proven experience to identify problems and come up with solutions independently.
  • Excellent team player with ability to work through ambiguity and without micro-management.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Work schedule Wednesday – Sunday or Thursday – Monday. 11am to 8pm CT or 12pm to 9pm CT.  (Saturday start time might be 9am).

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Weblogic, Tomcat, Jboss, Apache
