SkillStorm is seeking an UX Researcher for our client in Charlotte, North Carolina. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.
Description:
As a UX Researcher, you
- Should have experience in enterprise wide planning and executing of appropriate user research methodologies.
- A UXR needs to have strong foundation of overall user-centered design process along with excellent empathetic user research, data analysis and accessibility skills.
- A researcher is involved in all aspects of the experience design process from context-based research and presenting to internal clients, senior stakeholders and team members alike. Success depends on close collaboration and partnerships with end-users and subject matter experts, as well as product and technology counterparts.
- This position is for a researcher with user-first mindset, who has the passion for stepping in users’ shoe and understanding their needs and bridge the gap between user’s mental model and business goals. This individual thrives in a highly collaborative and cross-disciplinary team environment.
You will
- Plan, execute and analyze user research studies with ability to flexibly scale them across desktop and mobile devices. Collaborate with stakeholders to define & refine research objectives and ensure alignment with strategic, business and user goals.
- Work closely with UX strategists, designers and fellow researchers to provide research expertise and support during workshops and ongoing UX activities.
- Collaborate with design team to conduct design research to enhance UI Standards & Design Pattern library. Interpret qualitative and quantitative data from web analytics, user research data, trends and patterns to create actionable recommendations at project and portfolio level.
- Elicit user needs and usability concerns through various research methods, such as interviews, surveys, usability testing, task analysis, contextual inquires, ethnographic studies, & card sorting.
- Evaluate and evolve user models (personas, scenarios, profiles).
- Perform heuristic evaluation, accessibility reviews and testing of applications and make concrete recommendations for improving their usability.
- Provide rapid prototyping support to communicate concepts/designs recommendations based on research conducted.
- Synthesize research data, summarize findings & present results to management and project teams for both strategic and project level insight.
You’re a person who has
- 5+ direct experience is user experience research role
- Extensive understanding of overall UX process and software development methodologies.
- Experience / proficiency with tools like Userzoom, Excel, Mural, Axure, Sketch, Invision, and alike.
- Experience / proficiency in experimental design and statistics and Section 508 / Accessibility training and certification will be considered a plus.
- Experience in designing for mobile applications, responsive, and other digital interfaces

You’ll be better prepared if you have
- Bachelors or Masters in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience, Usability Engineering, Experimental Psychology or related field, or equivalent education and related training / certification.
- Financial or similar industry experience
- Experience with user-centered design research methodologies and rapid ideation processes such as Lean XD, Design Sprints and Agile methodologies.
