SkillStorm is seeking a UI Developer for our client in Houston, Texas. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Description:

  • The commodities business has a number of front-office applications for the GCIP (Global Commodity Index & Structured Products) business in each of the three regions; Asia-Pacific, EMEA, and Houston. These applications include solutions to help trader's capture deals, price deals, make markets, and manage risk and positions. Given the evolving nature of the commodities business these tools need to be enhanced to accommodate the new business requests for new products and support the evolution of regulatory reporting requirements. Merrill Lynch Commodities is a global organization with major trading centers in Houston and London. The Houston office currently trades both physical and financial commodities, including Natural gas, Power, Coal, Crude & Products, and Commodity Indices.

 

Responsibilities:

  • (Team Function, Structure, Size, Responsibility, upcoming projects) The Global Commodity Index & Products (GCIP) front office technology team develops and supports the front-office applications responsible for trading commodity index, structured notes, risk/valuation, market making & market data infrastructure in EMEA, and Americas. This particular role will report into the MLCI IT department, GCIP technology team.

Role Specific Responsibilities:

  • This role will involve work developing and supporting the server side & UI components of the commodity index technology suite of applications used by the GCIP traders in London and Houston. The role will require close interaction with the traders and sales people, understanding their requirements, and developing and/or enhancing existing solutions to meet their needs. The candidate will also be responsible for analysis, design, implementation and testing of various components of a Structured Products risk valuation system.

Experience Required:

  • Essential: 5+ yrs development experience in complex application development (client and/or server) using C#/.NET/Python, along with a background in messaging; Experience with database development on MS SQL Server 2012. UI development experience. College graduate with a Bachelors technical degree with strong computer science fundamentals or equivalent experience. Desirable: Agile development practices with a focus on writing thorough and testable code. Experience developing desktop or web applications using C#/.NET/Python. Experience supporting commodities trading and market making. Personal Attributes Required: We are looking for motivated technical developer with a solid track record for delivering complex systems. The person will be interested in developing their business understanding as well as the technical skills. Attention to detail should be excellent as should their ability to see the bigger picture.
