Systems Admin (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a Systems Admin for our client in Charlotte, North Carolina. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Server Decom SA – Job Description:

• This position provides system support, due diligence research, and decommissioning for physical and virtual Enterprise servers running Windows and Unix based software and operating systems. Strong sever administration experience focusing on x86 server hardware, midrange Unix, and Microsoft Windows operating systems is required. The candidate will also be responsible for working with peer Enterprise support teams within the client, and external support vendors for hardware and network removals.

 Essential Functions:

• Knowledgeable about various Windows/Unix based operating systems for system access, login, and validation of current users and running processes.
• Validation of hardware and serial number data to confirm servers match with documented server decommissions records.
• Update decom system of records within BMC Remedy.
• SA will work with decom team and related support teams to insure timely power down, validation, and removal of decommissioned hardware and peripherals.
• Knowledgeable about ITSM standards and change control procedures.

 Schedule and Hours of work:

• This position is an 8am-5pm M-F position but some after hours and weekend work may be required. Primary server decom activities are executed at 6pm EST each Friday and SA may be needed for follow up and restoral if power down causes a client impact. SA should be available by phone/pager as needed for escalation. Experience and Educational requirements: Past Experience and education must be directly commensurate with the listed skill set required for this position. This is not an entry level position and the successful candidate should possess a mature skill set aligned to all of the specific categories noted in the job description. The role of this contract resource is to fulfill weekly decom requests of physical and virtual Windows/Unix based servers.
