SQL DBA (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a SQL DBA for our client in Pennington, NJ. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description:

• A Postgres SQL DBA will be needed to implement HA solutions for Horizon and build out critical database solutions for qtest and Artifactory as part of the SDM program. This is a highly critical position that will require support and meetings to be held during US hours. The resource will also need to be available for engineering, testing, and support of the Lower Lane environments.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in 24x7 on-call Production support for critical SDLC PostGresSQL Database Platforms
• Implement database design and implementation enhancements
• Primary on day to day schema changes and database maintenance
• Help developers to optimize queries, stored procedure and database design
• Assists in developing and implementing best practices for DR and Backups
• Assists in evaluating and selecting equipment, services and vendors
• Assist in Defining and implementing maintenance plan for the database
• systems

Required Skills:

• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience with Postgresql 9.6.8 or later
• Experience in configuring, managing, and troubleshooting PostgreSQL (Postgres) on Linux is required
• Experience with database backup and recovery, including implementing disaster recovery standards (Postgres) is required
• Experience with database design, optimization, and tuning (Postgres) is required
• Experience with developing Ansible playbooks in Ansible Tower is required.
• In-depth experience with RedHat Linux 7 environment is desired.
• Experience with implementing database security concepts, including access, auditing, and encryption is required
• Bash shell scripting is required.
• Understanding of server hardware, including RAM, CPU, permanent storage, I/O, and other capacity related resources
• Experience in database capacity planning and forecasting
• Solid understanding of query execution plans
• Good SQL scripts skill including SPs, PSQL scripting
• Good performance tuning skills
• Ability to proactively identify, troubleshoot and resolve live database
• systems issues.
• Knowledge of disaster recovery principles and practices, including
• planning, testing, backup/restore
• Experience in postgres streaming replication
• Hands-on experience on database administration, backup recovery and
• Troubleshooting in co-location environments
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment
• Bachelor's degree or related experience
• Prior experience in Banking is a plus
