Solutions / Java Engineer (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a Solutions / Java Engineer for our client in Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description:

• Develops, enhances, debugs, supports, maintains and tests software applications that support business units or supporting functions. These application program solutions may involve diverse development platforms, software, hardware, technologies and tools. Participates in the design, development and implementation of complex applications, often using new technologies. May provide technical direction and system architecture for individual initiatives. Serves as a fully seasoned/proficient technical resource. Will not have direct reports but may lead projects and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations. May have responsibility for a project and project budget. May collaborate with external programmers to coordinate delivery of software application. Routine accountability is for technical knowledge and capabilities. Works under minimal supervision, with general guidance from more seasoned consultants. Typically requires 5-7 years of experience. The ideal candidate would be someone who can collaborate easily and effectively with a large set of stakeholders, has the required hands-on technical skills to work on application development and support issues

Required Skills:

• Experience in developing and supporting Java/J2EE applications, SAS, and/or Mule
• Ability to check and tune long running SQL queries.
• Understand priorities and execute work accordingly. Detailed, organized, and results-oriented
• Excellent troubleshooting, analysis and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
• Proactively work to resolve client issues.
• Be highly responsive to the dynamic nature of the business environment and quickly react against any critical issues related to the supported systems at all times.
• Proactively implement solutions and processes to reduce the number of support calls.
• Familiarity with full project life cycle from requirements through deployment
• Multi-skilled in at least a few technologies and have the acumen to adapt & learn quickly
• Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Minimum Required Skills: 7-10 years of experience, Unix/Linux, Java, J2EE, scripts - perl, shells, etc. Oracle, SQL, SQLPlus, MQ, JMS, NDM, Agile, Horizon, GIT
• Good experience in trouble shooting applications logs in the Unix/Linux environment and Oracle database
• SQL programming experience and ability to troubleshoot and tune long running SQL queries.

Desired Skills:

• Exposure to Mule, Eclipse Anypoint, Activiti, JBoss, API Development
• SDLC experience within a large IT organization
• Experience in financial services industry
