SkillStorm is seeking a Scrum Master for our client in Jersey City, NJ. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description:

  • A Scrum Master is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the role include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. This role ensures solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. These individuals possess strong proficiency in development and testing practices common to the industry, and have extensive experience of using design and architectural patterns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing the end-to-end execution of a project/scrum delivery teams within the Work and Change Engineering organization. Plans, organizes, monitors and controls projects using appropriate tools and techniques to ensure efficient and effective project completion.
  • Work management in JIRA
  • Guides and coaches one or more teams on Scrum practices, and develops their understanding of Agile principles.
  • Facilitates Scrum ceremonies i.e. Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Demos/Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives.
  • In a Scaled Agile model, facilitates scaled planning for the team -e.g. Pre Planning/ Preparation, PI Planning Events -and represents the team in Scrum of Scrums/ART Syncs.
  • Helps the team norms/agreements, like a Definition of Ready and Definition of Done, and enforces the agreements.
  • Ensures the team has a healthy product and Sprint backlog (in collaboration with the PO).
  • Facilitates dependency management/risk management/impediment removal for the team.
  • Promotes/facilitates communication and collaboration within the Agile team to support value delivery and Sprint commitments.
  • Provides visibility into the Agile team’s delivery plans and progress against plan to stakeholders.
  • Enables the team to become high performing through collaboration and a relentless focus on continuous improvement including cross-skilling across the team.
  • Measures team delivery, maturity, and performance and reviews the metrics with the team to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Sets agenda and defines the artifacts needed for governance forums; Collects feedback from customers and stakeholders to measure the effectiveness of stakeholder management.

Required Skills:

  • 5 year of experience as a Scrum Master
  • Expert in drafting and assisting with DoR & DoD and implementing it across the teams.
  • Proficient in JIRA and Confluence.
  • Have experience in mentoring and coaching more than 1 team at a time.
  • Coach and mentor team members on agile standards and best practices, e., Lean, Kanban, Scrum, XP, DevOps, SAFe, LeSS, etc.

Desired Skills:

  • Scrum master certification is a plus

  • Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and coaching them to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable.
