Scrum Master (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a Scrum Master for our client in Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description:

  • This role is responsible for optimizing the flow of stories and the value delivered by one or more Scrum team and is focused on serving the needs of the team to drive performance and growth. Key responsibilities include coordinating and facilitating Scrum ceremonies, managing dependencies for the team, providing visibility into team delivery plans and progress, enabling continuous improvement within the team. This role ensures the impediments are resolved quickly, the team follows their agreed-to processes, and that there is a good relationship between the Product Owner and the development team. They promote and coach the Agile mindset and principles, empowering the team to become self-managing and fulfill their cross-functional potential.
  • Guide and coach one or more teams on Scrum practices and develop their understanding of Agile principles.
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies (for example, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Backlog Refinement, Sprint Demos/Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives).
  • In a Scaled Agile model, facilitate scaled planning for the team (for example, Pre-Planning/ Preparation and PI Planning Events) and represent the team in Scrum of Scrums/ART Syncs.
  • Help the team define norms/agreements, like a Definition of Ready and Definition of Done, and enforce the agreements.
  • Ensure the team has a healthy product and Sprint backlog (in collaboration with the PO).
  • Facilitate dependency management/risk management/impediment removal for the team.
  • Promote/facilitate communication and collaboration within the Agile team to support value delivery and Sprint commitments.
  • Provide visibility into the Agile team’s delivery plans and progress against plan to stakeholders.
  • Enable the team to become high performing through collaboration and a relentless focus on continuous improvement including cross-skilling across the team.
  • Measure team delivery, maturity, and performance and review the metrics with the team to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Mentor more junior Scrum Masters.

Required Skills:

  • Must possess knowledge of project management standards, processes, procedures and guidelines.
  • Experience with SAFE agile, release train, scrum, Kanban process and PI planning
  • Practice and encourage continuous improvement both personally and with the team.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while paying strict attention to detail.
  • Self-starter, with comfortability in fast-paced environments.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with others.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail required.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and make decisions.
  • Able to deal with conflict, provide training on the Agile approach to project management, motivate and drive teams to be high performing.
  • Understand areas of application development, database, infrastructure, and client server architectures
  • Experience with QA automation preferred
  • Experience with Jira software or other Jira tools used for Scrum and reporting on scrum team. Agile view, Jira Rally, Version one etc.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 6+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Feature Lead, Product Owner, IT Project Manager / Scrum Master in and Agile environment.

Desired Skills:

  • Certified scrum master desired.
