Release Manager (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a Release Manager for our client in Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description:

  • Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordination for planned and unplanned/emergency releases. Ensure that the release process is followed, continually assessed, improved, documented, and socialized. Work closely with Quality Assurance, Project Managers, Development, Infrastructure, and upstream/downstream teams to assess and verify impact of change. Host meetings to obtain status and share information, prepare, and publicize release statistic to be used as input to continually improve the release process.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain tracking of releases across all scrum teams.
  • Create Jira Dashboard and filters to manage release scope
  • Host release kick-off meeting to review timeline and logistics, as needed
  • Host meetings to finalize scope and address potential conflicts/collisions with other changes
  • Attend release meetings to review status of SE/UAT runs, signoffs, scope changes, and other issues that can impact the release timelines
  • Send invitations, prepare detailed agendas, and send minutes for meetings hosted
  • Send “Notices” announcing release milestones such as scope freeze, code freeze, sign-off dates, and other key milestones
  • Ensure all release signoffs are obtained, and, where applicable, attached to Jira
  • Prepare and send reports to Release Deployment and Production Support teams to show release has met the readiness criteria
  • Liaise and follow-up with members of the release teams as needed
  • Maintain release documentation as process evolves
  • Provide support for releases during deployments that can occur during non-business hours as needed.
  • Open Change Requests in BMC Remedy tools and complete all forms related to an application deployment.

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years release manager/release coordinator experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to partner with and influence others
  • Ability to work with and communicate with peers and senior management
  • Understanding of application and system architecture
  • Proficiency in SharePoint, Jira, Wiki, and Confluence
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, especially in creating and updating pivot tables and charts
  • Host and Manage Conference Meetings (Action Items and Results)
  • Be instrumental in analyze risks and apply mitigation
  • Reporting Data both in technical and executive format
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Change Management processes from project to deployment
  • Familiarity with Agile process
