Project Manager - Boston, MA (Closed)

Our customer is seeking a Project Manager.

Overview:

  • This is a category C project and the CPM (PM II) is recommended to follow PROPS-C R4F methodology replete with the necessary project documentation and plans
  • To provide Customer a microwave turnkey solution that includes the equipment and all services required to design, build, commission, monitor, and maintain the links
  • The purpose of the upcoming project is to deliver a MiniLink-based MWER solution for Ethernet backhaul that will meet Customer backhaul needs in the foreseeable future
  • The MWER solution will be used for cell sites where Ethernet over fiber is not available or too expensive
  • The MWER solution will be both standards based yet flexible enough to be capable of interoperating with legacy CDMA as well as 4G LTE. Furthermore, Service on Element Manager will be installed as part of the scope, to manage the installed links.

Responsibilities:

  • Revise/update preliminary project plan for project execution created during Proposal Preparation and Negotiation Support and ensure all activities are completed within agreed completion time frame
  • Get customer approval if project plan is updated
  • Revise/update preliminary resource allocations done during Proposal Preparation and Negotiation Support; create a project in MORE, secure and make final reservation of project resources for contract execution
  • Revise cost estimate for project execution and Customer Project Management created during Proposal Preparation and Negotiation Support and prepare a project cost baseline that would serve as a budget after sponsor’s approval
  • Manage the project from Start to End in accordance with Customer contract / Proposal content, directives and instructions in EBP Sales process, Service Delivery process, Supply process and PROPS-C
  • Overall project expenditures should not go over TBD
  • Assigned CPM is expected to act as a main customer interface for all project related issues, as well as to ensure project execution with high quality within triple constraints

Project Planning

  • Accountable for planning, prioritizing and executing a project by working with Account Managers, Operations and Product Managers, and customers. This includes project procurement, integration, time, cost, scope, planning and initiation.
  • Develops required project documentation identifying project goals and tasks and generating assignments consistent to meet objectives
  • Establishes change management procedures, including evaluation and communication for project duration. Develops reporting strategy for project

Relationship Building

  • Core 3 participation and co-lead; ability to organize and lead a matrixed project team
  • Maintains clear communication with customers regarding mutual expectations, and monitors customer satisfaction
  • Builds business relationships beyond the project environment.
    Organizes and leads a matrixed project team as required (if PM II is a Senior PM)
  • Provides feedback and focus to all team members

Project Execution

  • Takes responsibility for project and actively executes to project plan while maintaining quality standards
  • Ensures that all commitments are met in accordance with project goals/objectives
  • Demonstrates control of equipment deliveries, service costs, project activities and customer hand-over requirements
  • Responsible for reporting on project financial and schedule progress based upon project goals
  • Ensures strategy for cost control is used
  • Excellent understanding of project data to predict project success

Manage Risks and Changes

  • Performs risk management
  • Manages change, formulates action plans, mitigates risk to minimize SCHEDULE Belays and costs
  • Actively takes advantage of change opportunities and recommends new or revised strategies for project integration

Results Focused

  • Effectively manages closure of project through customer final acceptance. Ensures an ontime  and in budget project
  • Understands and assures quality standards are met on assigned deliverables
  • Evaluates and communicates final project status
  • Utilizes contract information to maximize success of project
  • Actively identifies efficiencies for future implementations

Project, Process and Tools

  • Actively uses project methods, processes and tools
  • Work within defined framework or responsibility
  • Possess excellent project tool skills
  • Drives the use of project document control and management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree, preferably in a science, business or telecommunications discipline; or a minimum of eight years of progressive experience in a related field
  • Four to six years experience in project management, and/or related functional areas in a communication systems companies
  • Highly developed working knowledge of business process, including tender and sales
  • Good knowledge and skills in use of computer and telecommunications
  • Strong financial knowledge/training
  • Actively pursuing professional project management certification (PMP), or is certified
