Program Manager (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a Program Manager for our client in Jersey City, NJ OR Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description:

  • Our Client is looking for a Program Manager who has prior experience in Market Risk or Global Markets middle/back office technology. This is a multi-disciplinary role that will require the successful candidate to take on numerous diverse responsibilities and will necessitate close partnership with senior business and technology managers. Ideally, the candidate will have a background in development or have worked very closely with development teams. A program manager is expected to have a broad understanding of all the projects within the program and be able to ensure timelines and milestones are met. They are expected to provide direction and guidance to project managers to ensure success of the work within the program.

This Individual Will:

  • Have direct delivery responsibility for their projects (i.e. end to end ownership of the program)
  • Have oversight of all projects within the program and be responsible for recognizing when individual projects may be off track
  • Identify risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies (RAID) and proactively manage/reporting RAIDs.
  • Review and/or publish the weekly status report for the program
  • Consistently meet with project managers to understand progress and issues across projects and provide support as necessary
  • Be responsible for weekly status reporting and preparing materials to present to stakeholders

Primary Skill:

  • Agile tools (Jira)

Secondary Skill:

  • Python

Required Skills:

  • A flexible, hardworking and "can do" attitude; comfortable working in a fast paced environment with frequent release cycles and rapidly changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate within a multi-disciplined team, across multiple locations and time zones, and to interact with demanding business users.
  • Strong ownership and follow through.
  • Strong project management and organization skills, attention to details.
  • Ability to remove obstacles and influence others to move projects forward.
  • Strong financial markets product knowledge, market risk experience (any asset class).
  • Excellent technical skills; SQL, MS Excel, jira, MS Project, sharepoint, Visio, MS Powerpoint, MS Word

Desired Skills:

  • Computer Engineering/Financial Degree
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with VaR, Risk Analytics would be a definite advantage
  • Exposure to financial / product control functions within a bank.
  • Exposure to Java, or Python scripting.
  • Exposure to Program Project Risk Tool (PPRT)
