Platform Performance Engineer (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a Platform Performance Engineer for our client in Addison, TX. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Position Summary:

• This is a Performance Test Engineering role supporting a new initiative.
• Candidate must possess a passion for producing high quality software and solutions, be ready to jump in and solve complex problems, and mentor junior resources.

Required Skills:

• 6+ years of hands-on experience in software development, QA, and performance testing
• Act as single point of contact for platform health, monitoring, capacity planning, performance and make recommendation on scaling/tuning the infrastructure
• Create Performance Analytics dashboard and present to team and senior executives
• Drive and maintain a culture of resiliency, reliability, never down across the platform
• Collaborate with Architects, engineers, vendors, and product teams on performance needs
• Own technical decisions and solutions for performance testing & reporting, capacity planning and scaling
• Own the quality of modules being delivered, ensure proper testing and validation processes are followed.
• Work with globally distributed teams to understand the systems and processes. Lead globally distributed teams and show results
• Support the company’s commitment to protect the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.
• Ability to clearly communicate with team, stakeholders, and C-Level executives

• Performance engineer should be responsible for performance, capacity planning, resiliency, health, and performance metrics for Streaming/Data Science Platform/Graph Platform/Databank
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Software Engineering or related field
• Hands on experience managing the performance and optimization of platform services (i.e. Graph, Data Science, Kafka, Hadoop, Caching etc.)
• Experience managing the performance for any platform area by dissecting the problems for Code, runtime, Env. hardware, software, networking, storage, compute etc.
• Manage the metrics for all platform area, build and manage full stack monitoring dashboard for Infra, platform, and application-level monitoring
• Ability to work in Agile environments, hands on experience using CI/CD like jenkins, Git and others the Atlassian ecosystem
• Experience in building dashboard for performance analytics and health of platform. Exposure to tools like Tableau a plus. Familiarity with databases and SQL
• Experience with monitoring tools like basemon, splunk, app dynamics a plus
• Exposure to emerging technologies such Kafka, Hadoop, Cassandra, data science, graph is plus
