Monitoring Tools Engineer (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a Monitoring Tools Engineer for our client in Richardson, TX OR Richmond, VA OR Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description:

  • Monitoring Tools Engineer needed to support the Bank wide monitoring efforts. Tools engineers are needed to further enhance the current level of monitoring and operational procedures. Resources would be responsible for making sure monitoring tools are installed and configured with correct thresholds/alerts and dashboards. Not having the resources would mean that we would not hit the enterprise goals of improving Mean Time To Repair incident (MTTR) and we would not be able to effectively predict defects from going live into production.
  • Looking for an experienced Monitoring Tools Engineer to join the EET APS Monitoring team. In this role, you will be the technical expert for specific core monitoring tools and work directly with our application production support and application development partners to ensure the proper installation, setting of thresholds and dashboard configuration. You'll be working with industry-leading products, you will experience how you can be a game-changer, enabling applications to have less downtime than ever before.

Required Skills:

  • Subject matter expertise with Enterprise-class monitoring tools.
  • Splunk and Dynatrace strong experience required.
  • Sitescope and Catchpoint – Good to have.
  • 3+ years' experience with monitoring and reporting systems for a large enterprise infrastructures.
  • 3+ years' experience with effective operational scripting and improvement.
  • Knowledge of current programming languages and capabilities include Python, Groovy, etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamentals of networking, databases and applications and their interdependencies in the context of monitoring.
  • 3+ years' experience with Unix or Linux operating systems.
  • Understanding of IT operational processes
  • SiteScope experience is a must
  • SA or DBA or Middleware Experience preferred
  • Understanding of IT operational processes (e.g. – ITIL concepts).
  • Experience with UNIX and Windows Operating Systems.
  • General understanding of Large Data Sets
  • Understanding of Perl, Python, Windows Batch, VBScript, or vSphere PowerCli.
  • Understanding of DNS and BIND support.
  • Understanding of IPSEC VPNs and NAT
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired Skills:

  • SA or DBA or Middleware Experience preferred
  • Proven team player who can work comfortably in a multicultural environment
  • Proven ability to work independently, multi task and effectively work in a complex environment with a global team structure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Strong influencer, facilitator, and collaborator.
