Microstrategy Architect (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a MicroStrategy Architect for our client in Charlotte, North Carolina or Addison, TX. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Position Summary:

  • Solution Design specialist for Data & Analytics technologies (Big Data operational (Hadoop Ecosystem), Big Data Analytics Business intelligence, ETL, Relational Data warehouses, MicroStrategy, Tableau.  8+ years of architecture experience in data & analytics ecosystem technologies like traditional relational database management systems, ETL, Big data (Hadoop), BI Analytics, Machine learning and AI technologies

Description:

  • 8+ years developing software in PL/SQL, C, C++, Java, Scala, Ruby, and/or Python.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle, MicroStrategy, Alteryx, Tableau, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Sentry, HBase, Sqoop, Impala, Kafka, Flume, Oozie, MapReduce, S3, Ozone, Zaloni or similar technologies
  •  Experience in modern application development and deployment (Agile methodology, Automated Testing, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery)
  •  Implement the Hadoop data model to support MicroStrategy
  • Understand SOR data and devise a load strategy
  • Experience with large enterprise data warehouse architecture design including logical and physical model development.
  • Experience designing solutions for multiple large data platform ecosystems
  • Extensive experience in layered solutions and designs, diverse technical configurations, across multiple technologies and processing environments.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills - including negotiation, facilitation, and consensus building skills; ability to influence and persuade, without direct control.
  • Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly.
  •  Ability to balance the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of decisions.
  • Ability to think strategically and relate architectural decisions/recommendations to business needs.
  • Experienced across all phases of data modeling, from conceptualization to database optimization.
  • Providing technical leadership for data architecture and design optimized for security, scalability, and sustainability
  • Aligning data architecture with business and technology strategy and effectively communicating to business and technical partners across senior levels of the organization
  • Working with business process and data governance teams to introduce and maintain data platforms, data governance and data security capabilities and documentation including establishing the roadmap
  • Facilitating solution-driven discussions, lead the design of complex architectures, and find creative solutions through their knowledge of the domain, practical experiments, and Proof of Concepts (POCs).
  • Acting as a control function to ensure adherence of designs to blueprints, architectural principles and enterprise standards
  • Leveraging technical expertise to support vendor selection activities including recommendations of when to make the appropriate build vs. buy decisions.
  • Sponsoring design and code reviews to ensure all non-functional requirements for a solution are sufficiently met (for example, security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability).
  • Building a unified data and analytics ecosystem that drives improved business decisions supported by transformative emerging technology architecture capabilities
  • Reviewing and ensuring architectural designs are consistent, maintainable, flexible, and cost effective.
  •  Reviewing and ensuring data security and privacy standards are implemented including role-based security, encryption, tokenization, and obfuscation.
  • Providing strategic guidance to senior leadership for data movement strategies, data obfuscation (data masking), record retention strategy (Deletion and Archival), data infrastructure/security, the operational data store (ODS) and the operational reporting strategy.
  •  Interpreting and delivering impactful plans that specify strategy and improve data integration, data quality and data delivery in support of business initiatives and roadmaps to achieve results.
  •  Setting standards for data management and conceive projects needed to eliminate the gap between current state and future goals.
