Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer for our client in Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description:

• The Mainframe Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for matching current technology with the needs of the company. This requires fundamental knowledge of the Mainframe z/OS operating system and Hosting Solutions plus a solid understanding of Mainframe Infrastructure utilization.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
• Information Technology professional with a minimum of 7 years of Mainframe application design and development experience across one or more of the following hosting solutions: Batch, CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ
• Experience in designing applications to be resilient and scalable across multiple hosting solutions, sysplexes and Data Centers
• Solid understanding of Mainframe Infrastructure design and utilization
• Familiarity with high availably solutions including multi-data center configurations
• Understanding of SQL
• Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions
• Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong attention to detail
• Ability to write and maintain system and process documentation
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Office 365: Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Word

Desired Skills:

• Prior Client experience a plus
• z/OS System Automation experience
• Knowledge of mainframe storage management configurations
• DEVOPS experience with Application software Deployment Tools: ENDEVOR, Ansible, Ansible Tower, XLR, Bitbucket, or Celestial
• Conceptual understanding of Network infrastructure (HTTP/S, TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, Load-balancers, firewalls, proxies, B2B links)
• Knowledge of IBM Omegamon for z/OS or Dynatrace
• Ability to interpret SQL explain plans or similar information that will assist with performance tuning
• Knowledge of data replication for example IBM Q-Replication for DB2 z/OS
• Understanding of DB2 z/OS Connect for mid-tier to mainframe z/OS replication
• Familiarity with z/Linux
• Knowledge of cloud computing and containers
• Experience with other products: BMC Remedy, CA7, OPC, RACF, RMF, SAS, MICS, Kafka
