Linux Engineer (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a Linux Engineer for our client in Charlotte, NC OR Addison, TX. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description:

  • Engineer will be part of an Agile team supporting, enhancing, and implementing change for multiple applications in an Enterprise Content Management organization. Engineer will act as technical support for development team on integrations with file transfer protocols (SFTP, NDM), IBM MQ, ActiveMQ, data governance, monitoring tools (Splunk, etc), to ensure the stability of applications during change.
  • A positive attitude, excellent written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Triage, troubleshooting, defect analysis
  • Linux Red Hat technical support, platform capabilities.
  • Act as technical liaison with middleware and infrastructure teams
  • Ability to develop, review and comment on written technical documentation.
  • Process and detail oriented.
  • Handle complex application reliability problems including load-balancing rules
  • Assist in day to day installation, data updates and governance routines, maintenance, unplanned outages and issue resolution work.
  • Handle ad-hoc analytical tasks and activities.
  • Agile Project Process Knowledge.
  • Ability to work in a team in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Willingness to be accountable for meeting all deliverable dates for task assignments.

Required Skills:

  • Highly proficient in Linux Red Hat (RHEL 7).
  • Experience with load-balancing concepts and rules
  • Experience with file transfer technologies: Network Data Mover (NDM), SFTP.
  • Experience with IBM MQ, ActiveMQ
  • Experience with SQL , Oracle DB tools such as Toad.
  • Experience with SSH and SSH tools such as SuperPutty.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, or Dynatrace
  • Ability to quickly troubleshoot application logs using a variety of UNIX commands.
  • Strong coordination skills. Must be able to work with technology partners in a wide range of engagements.
  • Strong working knowledge of UNIX commands
  • Good interpersonal communication skills for technical and business conversations
  • Good analytical skills to break down requirements and solve complex problems

Desired Skills:

  • Prior experience at Client preferred
  • Jira, Agile
  • Splunk monitoring experience is a plus
  • Tomcat/Apache
  • Experience with TLS – certificates, ciphers, encryption methods.
  • Code Management (GIT/Bitbucket)
  • Experience in latest front end technologies like Angular and ReactJS
  • Experience in performance tuning with good understanding JVM internals
  • Experience working on high volume applications
  • Experience working on distributed systems
