Integration Engineer

SkillStorm is seeking an Integration Engineer for our client in Charlotte, North Carolina. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Description:

  • The Integration Engineer will be tasked with developing robust, intuitive and scalable API integrations capable of securely and reliably transferring & transforming data between our Application Dependency and Resiliency Mapping platform and telemetry data sources and other internal data service providers (ex. CMDB, catalog, compliance, security, governance, various SORs).

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in design, engineering, and development of new solutions in the midrange (Linux/Window) infrastructure management tools space, often using new technology.
  • Build and maintain API integrations.
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure that integrations are designed with customer user experience, scale/performance and operability in mind.
  • Implement scalable, flexible, and highly available integrations that perform well under high traffic volume.
  • Secure the movement of sensitive information in a manner consistent with company policy and management expectations.
  • Understand and implement secure credential management options and proper encryption practices (in motion and at rest).
  • Control integration quality and develop ways to detect and correct anomalies with data exchange.
  • Monitor integrations, properly alert colleagues and customers when processes fail or are experiencing degraded performance and build solutions that can recover gracefully from interruptions in connectivity.
  • Rewrite legacy data integrations to follow modern standards and practices.
  • Assist project managers in the definition of technical tasks, estimates, and dependencies.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information systems (or related field), or equivalent experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • 5-10 years of experience working as a Software System or DevOps Engineer within a large global company.
  • 3-5 years of experience designing, building and deploying enterprise-level API integrations for large-scale distributed systems.
  • 3-5 years of experience with Windows and Linux OS, Utilities and Command Line Tools (ex. Bash, PowerShell, cURL).
  • 3 years of experience building APIs in both object-oriented and functional languages (i.e. C++, C#, Java, .NET)
  • 3 years application development using scripting languages (i.e., Python, JavaScript, NodeJS, AngularJS, etc.)
  • 1-2 years of experience working with an Application Dependency and Resiliency Mapping solution (e.g. vArmour, New Relic, Tanium (Maps), Micro Focus, etc.) or equivalent asset discovery technology (e.g. BMC Discovery, etc.).
  • Extensive knowledge working with a broad range of API technologies (REST, XML/JSON, SOAP, XSLT)
  • Expertise in JSON, XML and XLST transformation
  • Experience with authentication protocols (i.e. Mutual Auth, Basic Auth, oAuth2)
  • General proficiency with database architecture and technology with ability to write complex queries.
  • Integration experience working with SQL RDBMS (ex. Oracle, MS SQL Server)
  • Integration experience working with non-relational databases (ex. MongoDB)
  • Integration experience working with graph database technology (e.g. Neo4j, Tigergraph, etc.).
  • Integration experience working with integration of cloud-based services (internal and external)
  • Integration experience working with enterprise service bus products (Microsoft BizTalk, WebSphere Service Bus, MULE, Apache Service Mix, Oracle Service Bus)
  • Ability to understand complex application architecture and security models.
  • Experience working with software development lifecycle management tools (e.g. JIRA, Jenkins, etc.) and the agile software delivery model.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work with multiple groups to gather business requirements for product evidence and license compliance.
  • Strong analytical, multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency in working in a fast-paced, complex, dynamic, business environment.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence individuals in all regions of the organization.
  • Ability to be a strong team player and to remain focused on achievement of goals of the overall organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
