Gloss Developer (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a Gloss Developer for our client in Jersey City, NJ. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description:

  • A Gloss developer is the principal ask, who has Unix and SQL experience. Most of the application is written in SQL, with stored procedures used, modified and added where required. Gloss application configuration and knowledge of core Gloss processes is key
  • C is used in the application also, but C changes are more infrequent.
  • Java is used for some of our tooling for CI/CD purposes using Jenkins and Ansible. Java changes are rare
  • I’m looking for 5 years Gloss developer experience, with the priority being Gloss/SQL, Unix, C with Java as preferable but not essential

Responsibilities:

  • You will be a key figure within the London team collaborating with a number of teams in other regions, working within an Agile team, writing requirements and specification, developing relationships across the technology and user communities. In addition, you will be crucial in making sure we are always focusing on the delivery of value and high quality code.
  • As the successful applicant, you will be responsible for supporting modern agile software development methods; including educating & mentoring less experienced team members and working with teams across London and other regions.

Requirements:

  • A background in SQL, C, Unix languages. Java preferrable but not essential
  • Able to work with the business stakeholders, and comfortable in analysing business requirements to determine an appropriate solution to fit business needs.
  • Experienced in using design patterns and following best software engineering practices
  • An understanding of fundamental algorithms and ability to optimize existing code
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills to support and shape the platform and clearly articulate technical designs and concepts
  • Relationship building skills
  • A team player with exceptional interpersonal skills, e.g. collaborative working skills
  • Experience of Specification by Example
  • Follows clean code principles
  • Experience of Scrum/ Agile methods
