DevOps Engineer (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a DevOps Engineer for our client in Charlotte, North Carolina. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Position Summary:

• This role is responsible for providing leadership, technical direction, and oversight to a team as they deliver technology solutions. Key responsibilities of the role include developing solutions and processes for delivering features based on their knowledge of design/architectural patterns and Agile/DevOps practices. This role ensures the systems design and requirements are aligned to achieve the desired business outcomes, and that team practices and coding/quality principles are aligned to achieve the desired technology outcomes. They have built significant experience through multiple software implementations and have developed both depth and breadth in a number of technical competencies.

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or software engineering
• 5-7 years of experience
• Experience in leading team members, provide direction & mentoring
• Proven experience as an app developer
• Knowledge of design and architectural patterns as well as Agile and DevOps principles and use them to develop both solutions and processes for delivering features
• Good analytical skills to break down requirements, solve complex problems
• Provide excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with scrum masters, architects, product owners and developers to ensure requirements are well defined and capable of being easily translated to stories.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong focus on troubleshooting and issue resolution
• Expertise in Agile methods, software development lifecycle management, continuous integration, and build and release management

Desired Skills:

• Banking industry experience, preferably in Merchant services
• Working knowledge of products, services, business flows and understanding of financial context in which technology and operating principles are used
• Familiarity with a variety of technology stacks including Java, Spring Boot, IBM Web Sphere, JBoss and relational databases
• Experience implementing modern micro-service architectures
• Experience working with an off-shore engineering team
