Database Administrator V (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a Database Product Manager for our client in Charlotte, North Carolina. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description and Essential Functions:

• The database product manager is responsible for managing the acquisition, contracts, lifecycle, and financials of middleware software that are acquired from third parties such as Oracle, Microsoft, IBM, DataStax and SAP.
• The product manager should have a good understanding of database infrastructure and database technologies and will work closely with the engineering, operational teams and application teams that use their products. They manage the product lifecycle and are responsible for the product roadmaps. The product manager works with the business applications to drive software currency and ensure vendor support is available for mission critical application. Additionally, product managers are responsible for product financials including invoice processes, cost recovery, benchmarking and the execution of financial approvals. Candidate must be comfortable representing their products across multiple business silos. This includes procurement, legal, finance, engineering and operations. While it is important to have a good working knowledge of the products, this role does not require hands on technical expertise. The ideal candidate will have worked closely with databases as a database administrator or database architect, but is also interested in the business side of managing technology. As a consultant, you will be working under the supervision of experienced product managers.

Required Skills:

• Experience working enterprise database technologies such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, SAP ASE or IBM DB2.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Comfortable facilitating meetings and general project management skills.

Level of Experience Needed:

• 5+ years of experience with a database technology.
