Database Administrator (Closed)

Our customer is seeking a Database Administrator.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the creation, configuration, maintenance, and support of the databases
  • Assist in architectural design, procurement, and evaluations of additional resources to the system
  • Create and enforce policies and procedures associated with the effective and efficient administration of the databases
  • Work closely with network analysts, server support and software development, ensuring the full integration and smooth functioning of the database portion of our client’s environment
  • Database analysis, design, coding and testing (Complete life cycle)
  • SQL programming and stored procedure development
  • Develop and implement Decision Support and operational reports
  • Programming and implementation of systems interfaces
  • Support of end user training
  • Analysis, programming, testing and implementation of distributed database systems
  • Monitor and maintain database security
  • Ensure appropriate version control of the software
  • Support developers data retrieval needs, including reporting needs and SQL tuning
  • Respond to support questions or problems and provide resolution
  • Troubleshoot and repair any database problems
  • Analyze performance impact of proposed enhancements or changes
  • Architecture, development and support of complex database designs, including data warehouses
  • Monitor and pro-active management of all databases and the environments that support the databases, including performance and capacity planning recommendations
  • Review all database changes prior to implementation, including stored procedures, triggers, table, view and security changes
  • Assume full responsibility for the overall health of the databases that support our client, including collection and reporting of data sufficient to justify changes and improvements to support tactical and strategic direction of corporate plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Installation and configuration of SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 on Win2K/2003 servers, including settings of pertinent environment parameter/switches
  • Installation of SQL Server patches
  • Create, maintain, and perform tuning database objects, including databases, tables, views, triggers, stored procedures, object privileges and authorizations, referential integrity constraints
  • SQL Server backup and recovery
  • SQL Server replication, including configuration, testing and troubleshooting
  • Will work with SQL Server tools – including Enterprise Manager, Query Analyzer, SQL Profiler, DTS packages, Management Studio

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years as a database developer or database administrator required
  • 5+ years as a database administrator in a healthcare environment experience preferred
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects involving many vendors and staff members
  • Knowledge of programming concepts and systems implementation
  • Strong working knowledge of MS SQL and database reporting
  • Strong communication skills to convey reporting requirements and deliverables to management, staff, and vendors
  • MS SQL database experience in a production environment
  • Deep experience is required in managing large enterprise database environments
  • Process oriented, focused on standardization, streamlining, and implementation of best practices
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of programming concepts and systems implementation preferred
  • Knowledge of Crystal Reports, Crystal Enterprise, BRIO, OLAP, Data warehousing preferred
