Data Engineer (Closed)

SkillStorm is seeking a Data Engineer for our client in Charlotte, NC. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description:

  • Data Engineer responsible for analyzing and documenting existing ETL processes for the purpose of data migrations. This individual will be required to interact with business units, project managers, technical stakeholders and leads to determine application and reporting needs. The role will be required to analyze data flows, identify issues, monitor data quality, and perform quality assurance as well recommend and implement process improvements based on evolving business requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Gather and identify system requirements through collaboration with developers, data analysts, information systems, and other stakeholders.
  • Design, implement and support migration and transformation of data from SQL to Hadoop.
  • Manage migration of SQL reporting from SSRS to Tableau.
  • Develop technical documentation to support migration process

Required Skills:

  • 10+ years relevant industry experience; 5+ years in a financial, health or insurance industry
  • Expert T-SQL skills, good understanding of relational data design
  • Extensive knowledge of stored procedures, triggers, agent jobs, integration services and reporting services development
  • Extensive experience with ETL processes
  • SQL Server Reporting Services experience
  • Tableau business intelligence and analytics experience
  • Migration experience from any RDBMS to Hadoop/HDFS environment
  • A good understanding of relational database systems including theory, design, and structure
  • Experience implementing services for large enterprises
  • Detail oriented and quality focused
  • Exceptional communication and personal skills, both written, verbal and while presenting to groups
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
  • Self-managed and motivated individual with strong leadership skills
  • Ability to grasp new concepts and quickly adapt to a changing environment
  • Interacts well with diverse groups within function and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators

Desired Skills:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent education and/or extensive experience (typically 10+ years) in a Technology related field
  • Project management experience and familiarity with both agile and waterfall processes
  • Experience with .Net framework and programming languages such as C#, VB.NET
