Business Control Specialist (Closed)

Job Description:

  • The Enterprise Data Platform Application Services (EDPAS) team is responsible for innovation, engineering, provision, and support of on premise and cloud enterprise data platforms, data science platforms, business intelligence and enterprise data storage and data lakes.
  • The role of the Senior Business Control Specialist is to take ownership for managing risk; the candidate will partner with and support the Enterprise Data Platforms and Applications Services (EDPAS) Technology teams and senior leaders to proactively identify, quantify, prioritize and mitigate risks, improve controls and maintain a focus on operational excellence and sustainable solutions. As a first line of defense, this member of the risk team will be responsible for demonstrating, monitoring and managing the effectiveness and adequacy of the risk and control environment supporting EDPAS in line with the enterprise Risk Framework supporting responsible growth. This candidate will aim to create open channels of communication with EDPAS application teams to maintain trust and promote transparency in reporting root cause of issues and escalations.

Key Activities:

  • Maintain close interaction and engagement with EDPAS functional leadership to provide guidance on identified risk and control issues, escalation triage, formal capture of issues & events and development of associated remediation plans, ensure compliance with critical deadlines for risk identification, escalation and remediation. They will ensure understanding of the business processes that may increase our risk, as well as the mitigants to that risk
  • Manage and track application governance metrics, infrastructure remediation and issues management helping improve overall metrics and for the risk management functions of EDPAS.
  • Support EDPAS with evaluation and assessment of changes to existing/new enterprise Policies and Standards applicability in partnership with EDPAS subject matter experts.

Required Skills:

  • Experience working with a broad range of systems development, infrastructure transformation, information security management and technical operations management teams (Advanced/Expert MS Office skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint and Foundational knowledge of RISE)
  • Commitment to challenging the status quo and experience setting standards and development of procedures that deliver end-to-end, tightly monitored, and supported risk management procedures. Experience in quickly understanding situations and asking the right questions to drive resolutions – is a continuous learner
  • Highly motivated individuals with a proven track record of improving processes and demonstrating successful teamwork while focusing on a proactive robust risk culture & responsible growth.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and a proven track record of interacting across business groups and various levels of leadership.
  • A deep understanding and demonstrable experience of setting standards and development of procedures that deliver end-to-end, tightly monitored and supported risk management procedures.
  • Establishes and communicates the target outcomes in partnership with the stakeholders and leaders. Coordinates delivery, manages risks, ensures compliance to standards, and provides visibility into the health of the program. Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to be able to drive and influence risk-based decisions
  • Demonstrated analytical, logical reasoning, risk versus reward and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and objective problem solver with a proactive approach to successfully comply with multiple deadlines
  • Plans and coordinates delivery and dependencies across multiple organizations.
  • Commitment to challenging the status quo and promoting positive change across all levels of the organization. Experience in quickly understanding situations and asking the right questions to drive resolutions – is a continuous learner
