Business Architect (Closed)

Our customer is seeking a Business Architect.

Overview:

  • The Business Architect will capture and articulate business problems and business processes for enterprise business application integration, service activation, and the delivery of new or modified software systems enhancements and/or integration solutions
  • They will uncover client problems via industry standard analysis techniques such as business process and information flow modeling, case analysis, workflow analysis, functional decomposition analysis and information modeling
  • Additionally the Business Architect will value chains, business architecture models, business proposals and business plans for developing solutions

Responsibilities:

  • Developing information strategy plans across multiple business domains for the purpose of driving integrated solutions for the customer
  • Driving business requirements through modeling data and information flows
  • Conduct and analyze business and information technology processes and prepare essential groundwork by documenting and driving business solutions
  • Assimilate and apply best practices, business processes and procedures
  • Elicit client requirements through interviews, workshops, and/or existing systems documentation or procedures
  • Exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results 
  • Conduct business system analysis with a focus on business process models, use cases, and industry research
    Interact with external customers
    • Customer interactions require courtesy, exchange of information, and problem solving
      Internal Relationships
    • Develop effective relationships with Customer Relationship Managers, Enterprise Architects, Application Architects, Product Managers and related business units
  • External Relationships
    • Work with the Customer Relationship Managers to coordinate with business units including Product Line Owners, Committees and other stakeholders/customers to document end-user processes and business problems
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or related field
  • Five or more years of business analysis experience
  • Must be systems-oriented, enjoy work with new tools, and be a self-motivated learner
  • Well-versed in software product/service market strategies
  • Understanding of software development methodologies
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral/written communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to facilitate groups around process improvement concepts and problem-solving that meets business needs and efficiently creates value for a chain of customers
  • Ability and willingness to understand the climate and operating intricacies of our organization and the railroad industry in general
  • Ability to improve organizational performance through the application of original thinking to existing and emerging methods, processes, products and services
  • Ability to lead and champion new ways of doing things and new solutions that creates differentiation throughout an organization
  • Ability to work with and lead cross-business and functional areas
  • Ability to collaborate supportively with colleagues to achieve a common mission
