SkillStorm is seeking a Teradata Developer / Technical Analyst for our client in Charlotte, North Carolina. Candidates must be able to work on SkillStorm's W2; not a C2C position. EOE, including disability/vets.

Job Description:

• Position is for the development and application lead of a Teradata based platform that supports capital modeling and validation. The position requires someone with the unique combination of data and development skills, who has the ability to understand the complex nature of risk / capital systems. The individual will be leading and working with other members of a small Agile team and will be responsible for the development of and application management / level-3 support of Teradata SQL and Unix Shell Scripts. The individual will be expected to perform some analysis in support of development, test, and production activities. Individual will be expected to do data modeling / analyst activities (data mapping, data feeds analysis / profiling, data transformation definition, etc.) as needed, and to work with line of business analysts and quants to understand / capture new requirements and to conduct user acceptance testing. Person will be expected to coordinate with Dev-Ops team on releasing items into production and for oversight of non-production environments. The position requires 5-7 years of applicable experience. The individual should have Teradata development experience and will need to demonstrate SQL / technical skills. Aspects of the platform will be migrating to Hadoop over the next 1-3 years, so familiarity with Hadoop architecture and develop experience is a strong plus. Alternatively, someone with Hadoop development experience and a solid working knowledge of large data relational databases (i.e., Teradata, Oracle-Exadata, etc.) could be successful in the role. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of capital risk (retail bank risk, credit risk, or market risk) and have an understanding of financial theory.

Required Skills:

• Teradata programming and release experience
• RDBMS (Oracle, Netezza, SQL Server, etc.) knowledge for SQL code development
• Basic Unix OS skills and Shell scripting; Agile methodology; JIRA or alternative

Desired Skills:

• Python or Java development and release experience
• ETL experience
• Exposure to data analytic tools / languages
• Experience with BIG DATA source control management (e.g., Bitbucket) or job scheduling (e.g., Autosys)
• Experience with Hadoop platform is a plus
• Experience working with data scientists or analytical business users will be beneficial
