Job Description:

The Internal Cloud Platform Engineering team is creating an API-centric solution set for state-of-the-art virtualization capacity and workload placement for the firm’s large internal cloud. Our goal is to provide reliable, repeatable and performant solutions that remain abstracted from any of the underlying tooling that provides data to enable upper-level actions such as placing a complex workload in the optimal location within the internal cloud.

This role will be responsible for working with the core capacity and placement team, the internal cloud operations team and the internal cloud service layer / portal team as well as subject matter experts and external vendors to develop and deliver an API-centric capacity and placement solution. Key responsibilities of the role include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements. This role codes solutions, unit tests, and ensures the solution can be integrated successfully into the overall application/system with clear, robust and well-tested interfaces. The candidate will be expected to become familiar with development and testing practices of the client as well as understand and adhere to all security policies from development through deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to story refinement/defining requirements.
  • Participate and guide team in estimating work necessary to realize a story/requirement through the delivery lifecycle.
  • Perform spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas.
  • Code solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements.
  • Utilize multiple architectural components (across data, application, business) in design and development of client requirements.
  • Assist team with resolving technical complexities involved in realizing story work.
  • Contribute to existing test suites (integration, regression, performance), analyze test reports, identify any test issues/errors, and triage the underlying cause.
  • Document and communicate required information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality.
  • Participate, contribute and can coach team members in the delivery/release (CI-CD) events. e.g.
  • Understand and use a Test Driven Design (TDD) approach
  • Have experience with Agile methodology and using Jira to create user stories, track requirements, design and development
  • Understand the solution delivery lifecycle to move code through development, UAT and production
  • Have experience with Git code repositories and workflow
  • Competently document solutions and be able to discuss them with other teams
  • Have experience with Jenkins CI/CD, Red Hat Linux deployments
  • Have familiarity with virtualization concepts and ideally VMware vSphere environments
  • Be conversant in virtualization capacity and placement.
